6/17/14 Katie O'Kelley

Today entailed a lot of reading. I finished my introduction papers I received yesterday, pertaining to my research project. My project is focused on synthesising an enzyme with molybdenum in the moco of the ligand. it has very unique characteristics that cause it to be a very difficult enzyme to study in detail.
Afterwards, I read, annotated, and understood chapter 6 in the Gen. Chem. book. Chapter 6 is entitled, Electronic Structures of Atoms. The chapter explained in great detail, quantum theory, photoelectric effect, wave lenghts and their spectrum, the uncertainty principal, wave functions. orbitals and electron shells, Hund's rule, Pauli Exclusion principal, electron spin, and finally, electron configurations and how it all connects to the set up of the periodic table.
So, in conclusion, my day was very informative and sort of exciting. I cannot wait to work in the lab tomorrow.
P.S.
My signature, I think, is going to be purple text color.
My way of adding some fun to this blog :)
