6/24/14 Katie O'Kelley
Today I started my reaction of isopropyldione with Lawsson reagent in toluene to make the ligand I need to completely synthesize the molybdenum co-factor of an enzyme. That reaction takes 12-24 hours. So, after lunch my day consisted of readings and helping take inventory of chemicals. I read about chromatography and recrystallization. Then, I helped with inventory. I recently took note of my reaction: The compound changed from see-through yellow to dark brown, almost black, and it should be done reacting and ready for separation from the solvent tomorrow morning.
